AdvSCOD: Bayesian-Based Out-Of-Distribution Detection via Curvature Sketching and Adversarial Sample Enrichment

Detecting out-of-distribution (OOD) samples is critical for the deployment of deep neural networks (DNN) in real-world scenarios. An appealing direction which to conduct OOD detection measure epistemic uncertainty DNNs using Bayesian model, since it much more explainable. SCOD sketches curvature DNN classifiers based on posterior estimation and decomposes measurement into model parameters influence input models. However, lots approximation applied, models can be hardly measured stably, as demonstrated adversarial attacks, not robust. In this paper, we propose a novel AdvSCOD framework that enriches sample with small set its neighborhoods generated by applying perturbation, believe better reflect predictions, then average their uncertainties, SCOD. Extensive experiments different settings in-distribution datasets validate effectiveness superiority state-of-the-art Bayesian-based methods. We also evaluate types perturbation.
